In response to the tragic rail accident that occurred recently, blood donors from all across Odisha have emerged as heroes for the accident victims. Among them, the esteemed alumni association of VSSUT (UCE) Burla, the oldest technical university in the state, has played a significant role in restoring hope and humanity.
The VSSUT Alumni Association, in collaboration with the Odisha Mo Parivar NGO, successfully organized a blood donation drive aimed at assisting the victims of the Coromandel train accident. The event witnessed the participation of renowned individuals, organizations, and a host of selfless volunteers dedicated to making a difference.
The drive was inaugurated by Shri Sujeet Kumar, an honorable Member of Parliament and proud alumnus of VSSUT, who led by example and donated blood himself.The blood donation drive took place on the 5th of June at the IG Drones Bhubaneswar Office.
Assisting in the smooth coordination and execution of the drive was the Puri District Blood Bank, whose support was invaluable in ensuring the efficient management of the event.
The response from VSSUT alumni and local residents was overwhelming, as they came forward in large numbers to contribute their blood to the cause. The altruistic spirit of the community was evident as donors selflessly gave their support to aid the accident victims.
Er. Bodhisattwa Sanghapriya and Er. Swadesh Kumar, both alumni of VSSUT, played a vital role in coordinating the entire blood donation drive. Their efforts were supported by young alumni & student volunteers, including Apurwa ,Shiba Prasad , Mahanayak and Subham, who worked diligently to ensure the event’s smooth functioning.
The presence of esteemed senior alumni, such as Er. SK Dash, Er. SSS Panda, Er. Bimal Dash, Er. Jaga Mohanty, and Er. Manika Pradhan, added prestige to the blood donation drive. Their presence motivated and inspired young alumni to actively participate in this noble cause.

Their selfless acts of kindness have not only brought hope to the lives of the accident victims but have also highlighted the unwavering spirit of the VSSUT community.
