Meet Mayank Jain: The Robin Hood that We Didn’t Know We Needed

While most college students are in a rat race trying to score higher than each other, Mayank has leapt far ahead and is doing something most can only aspire to do. He is a visionary and is setting an example for all of us, someone we are inspired to be. Mayank is a college student pursuing his last year in law at Gitarattan International Business School. However, that’s the least interesting thing about him. He has a lot brewing in his pot. Let’s learn his story.

Mayank is already adding to society by working for our community in various ways. He has written and published many articles and research papers, each one astounding and eloquent one after another. When we asked him why he liked to write articles, he simply replied, “Just because I’m still in college doesn’t mean I don’t have anything to say. In fact, I have a lot to say and to use my voice for awareness and education is one of the main pillars in my life”.

He chooses articles from an array of touching and profound topics. But he has written one such paper on domestic violence, educating people about the abuse that goes on behind closed doors, and the voice of the victim is muffled down in such households. This paper deservedly was awarded as one of the top articles in many! Mayank also writes about topics apart from the social workings of our society, and some of them are awarded as the best article.

Mayank’s work just doesn’t span only until, on paper, he has effectively participated in more social work than any kid his age. He was also awarded by the LEGUM for his excellent work in the field of law. With their hard work, he was elected as president of GIBS NSS and has served the society for four years as a president of NSS GIBS. Through the National Service Scheme, he has conducted many drives and camps. To name a few, he had once conducted a blood donation camp in which he also tried to get blood to people who are in need of it, cleanliness drives keeping Swatch Bharath in mind, and an awareness camp educating people about various important topics as well.

Mayank is part of many NGOs across Delhi, all with different objectives, but his one and only objective is to help in bringing up society. He has so much to offer as a college student that he even spends his free time teaching more than a hundred students. The student indeed becomes the teacher. He also takes care of street dogs and cats by tending to them when hurt and finding them different shelters. He rescues abused animals and helps them get the treatment they need. Truly a robin hood for all of us that we didn’t know we needed.

He makes sure to use the time he puts into studying efficiently. He excels in the academic field too! He hasn’t even passed out of his college and has already begun working on his first pro bono for underprivileged victims in collaboration with higher advocates. We need more lawyers like him, we need more students like him, but most importantly, we need more people like him in our society.

Mayank is setting an example for all of us to pass the torch and educate ourselves and others on pressing social matters and lend our hand in bettering society. To do whatever we can to be able to leave this a better place before we go. When he being a college student, can do it, we can too!
