Schooling is such an integral part of any child’s development and career Dr Rajeev R Singh understood this and took a stance to make that change in India. He left the job he had at an engineering college in a metro city like Ghaziabad, for providing education in the rural area of the Hapur district. “This was a huge leap of faith but, it’s by far one of the best decisions of my life” adds the principal of the school Dr Rajeev.
Dr. Rajeev joined the school about 10 years ago and when asked how his journey has been so far, this is what he had to say, “As a teacher, you can make an impact but, as a principal, you can make an even more significant impact. Here I have the chance to impact the community. The role of a principal allows me to spread my reach further and touch more lives”. He has always liked challenges and that is why he says, “As a teacher, there were roughly 25-30 students that I was responsible for. Now, as a principal, I impact 800-1000 students a year”. Having people like him who are truly passionate about their job is one of the things that Mount Columbus International School is lucky to have. Many of Dr. Rajeev’s students have also joined to start teaching here.
Dr Rajeev started in the field of education as a home tutor. Despite his AIEEE 235th ranking, due to ill health and financial constraints could not enroll in engineering. He then got admitted to Bihar University B.Sc Physics Honors but could not complete it. Then did a bachelor’s and master in Mathematics from Magadh University. He finally willed himself to come to Ghaziabad, saving up money from his home tuition, then got admitted into a college for computer science engineering, did MBA in HR and Marketing, and did a double Ph.D. in child psychology and education from Bundelkhand University and Chiyang MaiUniversity Thiland.. He is the epitome of learning to forever be a student and keep bettering your skills.
The founder of Mount Columbus International, Shri Satpal Yadav ji has unwavering faith in him and according to Dr Rajeev that is what keeps him motivated and encourages him to give his best.
He is a man that stands by his word, as a principal, he has received 8 awards since 2015. Amongst these is the Best Principal Award given by the Ministry of Human Resources, CBSE, India Today Group, and also the CV Raman Award and National Award. If there’s any man that is fit for the role it is him. He has a passion for leadership and education, and a desire to make a difference in his students’ lives. Schools are in dire need to have people like him in the management to help make them a better place for students and parents altogether.
His time so far at Mount Columbus International School has only brought laurels to his career and the school as well. His journey is something out of the ordinary and he is surely an outlier in forever being a student and a passionate educator all at the same time.
